New Construction Painting Project
Are new constructions easy to work on?
When we had just launched our residential painting company in 2004, we were awarded contracts for a few new construction painting projects to cut our teeth on. We had the misfortune of working with a one-man-show construction management company. His mismanagement style and lack of organization caused all parties involved to pay dearly. What a nightmare! The good news is we learned valuable lessons and became more selective in choosing prospective general contractor clients to work with.
Paint Track Painting services completed painting of a dozen new construction custom residential houses between 2004 and 2007. We completed every interior painting job on time, on budget, and with quality craftsmanship. Unfortunately, we soon realized it was hard to make a profit when dealing with certain general contractors. GC’s who just happened to be land-building projects due to the boom in building new custom homes at the time. A GC that cared about keeping cost low, rather than produce high quality of their work. Unfortunately he was a GC that did not have enough knowledge of the construction field.
Factors that have helped us
Throughout the years, being organized has been the one factor that helped us the most. We managed to standardize every task involved in preparation and painting of new homes. Paint Track ensures the proper on-site training of its painting crew members in order to assure that everyone follows the same procedures consistently. For example, we have specified procedures for filling up nail holes or painting wood windows.
Moreover, by collecting detailed project time and activity tracking, we could pinpoint which crew member completed a certain task and hold them accountable to a high level of craftsmanship. Thus, we could complete those new construction projects with quality and longevity in mind.
During the 2007-2014 we have seen a slowdown in the construction trades. However, we had positioned ourselves to do more of residential and commercial repaint projects and were not affected much by the slowdown. Paint Track Painting Services continues to build good relationships with reputable partners.
We are currently working with a well-organized high-end construction management company. Furthermore we are due to complete the interior painting of a custom 6,000 SQ/ft. home in Riverdale, NY.
